City Centre Manchester

New build 119 new apartments on the site bounded by Great Ancoats Street, Newton Street, Houldsworth Street and Dean Street. The site was used as a surface car park with the addition of a vacant office block for a number of years before it was acquired by Factory Estates in 2013.

The site is identified as the “Northern Gateway” to the Masterplan produced by Manchester City Council for its proposed “Piccadilly North Masterplan – HS2” and required a building of architectural merit to be placed there. Planning Approval was obtained for a newbuild 13 storey apartment block in 2015 with a mix of 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartments, including ground floor Gym, Coffee shop and public square.

The building will be unique in its use of large format triangular shaped “Corten” (pre-weathered steel) as its cladding material for the external elevations.

Building work started on the site in mid-2016 and is due for completion in late 2017.

The contract value is £16M
